“The Lord did indeed remember and call to mind what you did! He remembered the sacrifices you and your ancestors, your kings, your leaders, and all the rest of the people of the land offered to other gods 1 in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. 2
But after turning and looking at his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind me, Satan. You are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but on man’s.” 1
So 1 the people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus. They 2 found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid.
Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and make your hearts pure, you double-minded. 1
Finally, brothers and sisters, 1 rejoice, set things right, be encouraged, agree with one another, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.
In those days, your population will greatly increase 1 in the land. At that time,” says the Lord, “people will no longer talk about having the ark 2 that contains the Lord’s covenant with us. 3 They will not call it to mind, remember it, or miss it. No, that will not be done any more! 4
They built places of worship for the god Baal in the Valley of Ben Hinnom so that they could sacrifice their sons and daughters to the god Molech. 1 Such a disgusting practice was not something I commanded them to do! It never even entered my mind to command them to do such a thing! So Judah is certainly liable for punishment.’ 2
She arrived in Jerusalem 1 with a great display of pomp, 2 bringing with her camels carrying spices, 3 a very large quantity of gold, and precious gems. She visited Solomon and discussed with him everything that was on her mind.
All these men were warriors who were ready to march. 1 They came to Hebron to make David king over all Israel by acclamation; 2 all the rest of the Israelites also were in agreement that David should become king. 3
So I said to the Lord, 1 “O Lord who rules over all, 2 you are a just judge! You examine people’s hearts and minds. 3 I want to see you pay them back for what they have done because I trust you to vindicate my cause.” 4
Furthermore, I will strike her followers 1 with a deadly disease, 2 and then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches minds and hearts. I will repay 3 each one of you 4 what your deeds deserve. 5
