Then those who were about to interrogate him stayed away 1 from him, and the commanding officer 2 was frightened when he realized that Paul 3 was 4 a Roman citizen 5 and that he had had him tied up. 6
For since in the wisdom of God the world by its wisdom did not know God, God was pleased to save those who believe by the foolishness of preaching.
and when James, Cephas, 1 and John, who had a reputation as 2 pillars, 3 recognized 4 the grace that had been given to me, they gave to Barnabas and me 5 the right hand of fellowship, agreeing 6 that we would go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. 7
For they disciplined us for a little while as seemed good to them, but he does so for our benefit, that we may share his holiness.
Therefore, remember from what high state 1 you have fallen and repent! Do 2 the deeds you did at the first; 3 if not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place – that is, if you do not repent. 4

She also saw 1 that I gave wayward Israel her divorce papers and sent her away because of her adulterous worship of other gods. 2 Even after her unfaithful sister Judah had seen this, 3 she still was not afraid, and she too went and gave herself like a prostitute to other gods. 4
Before this I had been like a docile lamb ready to be led to the slaughter. I did not know they were making plans to kill me. 1 I did not know they were saying, 2 “Let’s destroy the tree along with its fruit! 3 Let’s remove Jeremiah 4 from the world of the living so people will not even be reminded of him any more.” 5
When 1 the woman saw that she could not escape notice, 2 she came trembling and fell down before him. In 3 the presence of all the people, she explained why 4 she had touched him and how she had been immediately healed.
The next day the crowd that remained on the other side of the lake 1 realized that only one small boat 2 had been there, and that Jesus had not boarded 3 it with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone away alone.
