The Teacher says: I discovered this while trying to discover the scheme of things, item by item.
Think of him who endured such opposition against himself by sinners, so that you may not grow weary in your souls and give up.
For it is sanctified by God’s word and by prayer.
Eat anything that is sold in the marketplace without questions of conscience,
Now in giving the following instruction I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better but for the worse.
and have been clothed with the new man 1 that is being renewed in knowledge according to the image of the one who created it.
Also, anything they fall on 1 when they die will become unclean – any wood vessel or garment or article of leather or sackcloth. Any such vessel with which work is done must be immersed in water 2 and will be unclean until the evening. Then it will become clean.
ע (Ayin) The Lord has done what he planned; he has fulfilled 1 his promise 2 that he threatened 3 long ago: 4 He has overthrown you without mercy 5 and has enabled the enemy to gloat over you; he has exalted your adversaries’ power. 6
“When a person sins and commits a trespass 1 against the Lord by deceiving his fellow citizen 2 in regard to something held in trust, or a pledge, or something stolen, or by extorting something from his fellow citizen, 3
“You must exact 1 a tribute for the Lord from the fighting men who went out to battle: one life out of five hundred, from the people, the cattle, and from the donkeys and the sheep.
You must by all means 1 return to him at sunset the item he gave you as security so that he may sleep in his outer garment and bless you for it; it will be considered a just 2 deed by the Lord your God.
In all cases of illegal possessions, 1 whether for an ox, a donkey, a sheep, a garment, or any kind of lost item, about which someone says ‘This belongs to me,’ 2 the matter of the two of them will come before the judges, 3 and the one whom 4 the judges declare guilty 5 must repay double to his neighbor.
If someone carries holy meat in a fold of his garment and that fold touches bread, a boiled dish, wine, olive oil, or any other food, will that item become holy?’” 1 The priests answered, “It will not.”
So anyone who breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches others 1 to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever obeys them and teaches others to do so will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
