You shall build a roadway and divide into thirds the whole extent 1 of your land that the Lord your God is providing as your inheritance; anyone who kills another person should flee to the closest of these cities.
After all, 1 you picked them out of all the nations of the earth to be your special possession, 2 just as you, O sovereign Lord, announced through your servant Moses when you brought our ancestors out of Egypt.”
Instead of shame, you will get a double portion; 1 instead of humiliation, they will rejoice over the land they receive. 2 Yes, 3 they will possess a double portion in their land and experience lasting joy.
