Then I heard a human voice coming from between the banks of the Ulai. It called out, “Gabriel, 1 enable this person to understand the vision.”
The revelation of the word of the Lord concerning Israel: The Lord – he who stretches out the heavens and lays the foundations of the earth, who forms the human spirit within a person 1 – says,
And if those days had not been cut short, no one would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.
But if we say, ‘From people – ’” (they feared the crowd, for they all considered John to be truly a prophet).
And if the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would be saved. But because of the elect, whom he chose, he has cut them 1 short.
For who among men knows the things of a man except the man’s spirit within him? So too, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
For whenever someone says, “I am with Paul,” or “I am with Apollos,” are you not merely human? 1
Consequently the one who rejects this is not rejecting human authority 1 but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
This announcement is by the decree of the sentinels; this decision is by the pronouncement of the holy ones, so that 1 those who are alive may understand that the Most High has authority over human kingdoms, 2 and he bestows them on whomever he wishes. He establishes over them even the lowliest of human beings.’
You will be driven 1 from human society, 2 and you will live 3 with the wild animals. You will be fed 4 grass like oxen, 5 and you will become damp with the dew of the sky. Seven periods of time will pass by for you, before 6 you understand that the Most High is ruler over human kingdoms and gives them to whomever he wishes.
He was driven from human society, his mind 1 was changed to that of an animal, he lived 2 with the wild donkeys, he was fed grass like oxen, and his body became damp with the dew of the sky, until he came to understand that the most high God rules over human kingdoms, and he appoints over them whomever he wishes.
I will pass through 1 the land of Egypt in the same 2 night, and I will attack 3 all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both of humans and of animals, 4 and on all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment. 5 I am the Lord.
No hand will touch him 1 – but he will surely be stoned or shot through, whether a beast or a human being; 2 he must not live.’ When the ram’s horn sounds a long blast they may 3 go up on the mountain.”
