I have vowed and solemnly sworn to keep your just regulations.
The Lord said, 1 “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have made a promise on oath to David, my servant:
Once and for all I have vowed by my own holiness, I will never deceive 1 David.
So I made a vow in my anger, ‘They will never enter into the resting place I had set aside for them.’” 1
they will by no means 1 see the land that I swore to their fathers, nor will any of them who despised me see it.
“As far as I am concerned, this is like in Noah’s time, 1 when I vowed that the waters of Noah’s flood 2 would never again cover the earth. In the same way I have vowed that I will not be angry at you or shout at you.

“Not a single person 1 of this evil generation will see the good land that I promised to give to your ancestors!
Then he 1 said to me, “Get up, set out leading 2 the people so they may go and possess 3 the land I promised to give to their ancestors.” 4
Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ 1 I have let you see it, 2 but you will not cross over there.”
Be strong and brave! You must lead these people in the conquest of this land that I solemnly promised their ancestors I would hand over to them. 1
Therefore I swore an oath to the house of Eli, ‘The sin of the house of Eli can never be forgiven by sacrifice or by grain offering.’”
I solemnly make this oath 1 – what I say is true and reliable: 2 ‘Surely every knee will bow to me, every tongue will solemnly affirm; 3
But, if you do not obey these commands, I solemnly swear 1 that this palace will become a pile of rubble. I, the Lord, affirm it!” 2
For I solemnly swear,” 1 says the Lord, “that Bozrah 2 will become a pile of ruins. It will become an object of horror and ridicule, an example to be used in curses. 3 All the towns around it will lie in ruins forever.”
Stay 1 in this land. Then I will be with you and will bless you, 2 for I will give all these lands to you and to your descendants, 3 and I will fulfill 4 the solemn promise I made 5 to your father Abraham.
The Lord said to Moses, “Go up 1 from here, you and the people whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, to the land I promised on oath 2 to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ 3
‘Because they have not followed me wholeheartedly, 1 not 2 one of the men twenty years old and upward 3 who came from Egypt will see the land that I swore to give 4 to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
For after I have brought them 1 to the land I promised to their 2 ancestors – one flowing with milk and honey – and they 3 eat their fill 4 and become fat, then they 5 will turn to other gods and worship them; they will reject me and break my covenant.
