If I forget you, O Jerusalem, may my right hand be crippled! 1

Be sure you do not forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments, ordinances, and statutes that I am giving you today.
They will ask the way to Zion; they will turn their faces toward it. They will come 1 and bind themselves to the Lord in a lasting covenant that will never be forgotten. 2
Again, however, pay very careful attention, 1 lest you forget the things you have seen and disregard them for the rest of your life; instead teach them to your children and grandchildren.
Now if you forget the Lord your God at all 1 and follow other gods, worshiping and prostrating yourselves before them, I testify to you today that you will surely be annihilated.
Remember – don’t ever forget 1 – how you provoked the Lord your God in the desert; from the time you left the land of Egypt until you came to this place you were constantly rebelling against him. 2
So when the Lord your God gives you relief from all the enemies who surround you in the land he 1 is giving you as an inheritance, 2 you must wipe out the memory of the Amalekites from under heaven 3 – do not forget! 4
She made a vow saying, “O Lord of hosts, if you will look with compassion 1 on the suffering of your female servant, 2 remembering me and not forgetting your servant, and give a male child 3 to your servant, then I will dedicate him to the Lord all the days of his life. His hair will never be cut.” 4
But the Lord is with me to help me like an awe-inspiring warrior. 1 Therefore those who persecute me will fail and will not prevail over me. They will be thoroughly disgraced because they did not succeed. Their disgrace will never be forgotten.
Then when 1 many disasters and distresses overcome them 2 this song will testify against them, 3 for their 4 descendants will not forget it. 5 I know the 6 intentions they have in mind 7 today, even before I bring them 8 to the land I have promised.”
