Joab son of Zeruiah was general in command of 1 the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was secretary;
Now Joab was the general in command of all the army of Israel. Benaiah the son of Jehoida was over the Kerethites and the Perethites.
Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah’s three sons were Abshai, 1 Joab, and Asahel.

Then the woman went to all the people with her wise advice and they cut off Sheba’s head and threw it out to Joab. Joab 1 blew the trumpet, and his men 2 dispersed from the city, each going to his own home. 3 Joab returned to the king in Jerusalem.
They were also in charge of everything dedicated by Samuel the prophet, 1 Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah; Shelomith and his relatives were in charge of everything that had been dedicated.
