(The silver collected in conjunction with reparation offerings and sin offerings was not brought to the Lord’s temple; it belonged to the priests.)
But any sin offering from which some of its blood is brought into the Meeting Tent to make atonement in the sanctuary must not be eaten. It must be burned up in the fire. 1
Hammered-out silver is brought from Tarshish 1 and gold is brought from Uphaz 2 to cover those idols. 3 They are the handiwork of carpenters and goldsmiths. 4 They are clothed in blue and purple clothes. 5 They are all made by skillful workers. 6
Also, anything they fall on 1 when they die will become unclean – any wood vessel or garment or article of leather or sackcloth. Any such vessel with which work is done must be immersed in water 2 and will be unclean until the evening. Then it will become clean.
Jehoash said to the priests, “I place at your disposal 1 all the consecrated silver that has been brought to the Lord’s temple, including the silver collected from the census tax, 2 the silver received from those who have made vows, 3 and all the silver that people have voluntarily contributed to the Lord’s temple. 4
