The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you – from your fellow Israelites; 1 you must listen to him.

They 1 must not discriminate in judgment, but hear the lowly 2 and the great alike. Nor should they be intimidated by human beings, for judgment belongs to God. If the matter being adjudicated is too difficult for them, they should bring it before me for a hearing.
If you obey these ordinances and are careful to do them, the Lord your God will faithfully keep covenant with you 1 as he promised 2 your ancestors.
