Baana son of Ahilud was in charge of Taanach and Megiddo, 1 as well as all of Beth Shan next to Zarethan below Jezreel, from Beth Shan to Abel Meholah and on past Jokmeam.
Within Issachar’s and Asher’s territory Manasseh was assigned Beth Shean, Ibleam, the residents of Dor, En Dor, the residents of Taanach, the residents of Megiddo, 1 the three of Napheth, 2 and the towns surrounding all these cities. 3
The descendants of Joseph said, “The whole hill country 1 is inadequate for us, and the Canaanites living down in the valley in Beth Shean and its surrounding towns and in the Valley of Jezreel have chariots with iron-rimmed wheels.” 2
On the border of Manasseh’s territory were Beth-Shean 1 and its surrounding towns, Taanach and its surrounding towns, Megiddo 2 and its surrounding towns, and Dor and its surrounding towns. The descendants of Joseph, Israel’s son, lived here.
The men of Manasseh did not conquer Beth Shan, Taanach, or their surrounding towns. Nor did they conquer the people living in Dor, Ibleam, Megiddo 1 or their surrounding towns. 2 The Canaanites managed 3 to remain in those areas. 4
