‘I will certainly regather my people from all the countries where I will have exiled 1 them in my anger, fury, and great wrath. I will bring them back to this place and allow them to live here in safety.
But after I have uprooted the people of those nations, I will relent 1 and have pity on them. I will restore the people of each of those nations to their own lands 2 and to their own country.
I will look after their welfare 1 and will restore them to this land. There I will build them up and will not tear them down. I will plant them firmly in the land 2 and will not uproot them. 3
But in that time they will affirm them with ‘I swear as surely as the Lord lives who delivered the people of Israel from the land of the north and from all the other lands where he had banished them.’ At that time I will bring them back to the land I gave their ancestors.” 1
For I, the Lord, affirm 1 that the time will come when I will reverse the plight 2 of my people, Israel and Judah,’ says the Lord. ‘I will bring them back to the land I gave their ancestors 3 and they will take possession of it once again.’” 4
For I, the Lord, affirm that 1 I will soon give the order and bring them back to this city. They will fight against it and capture it and burn it down. I will also make the towns of Judah desolate so that there will be no one living in them.”’”
This is what the sovereign Lord says: Look, I am against the shepherds, and I will demand my sheep from their hand. I will no longer let them be shepherds; 1 the shepherds will not feed themselves anymore. I will rescue my sheep from their mouth, so that they will no longer be food for them.
