Then you must come to the place the Lord your God chooses for his name to reside, bringing 1 everything I am commanding you – your burnt offerings, sacrifices, tithes, the personal offerings you have prepared, 2 and all your choice votive offerings which you devote to him. 3
You must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer, 1 for the Lord your God will be testing you to see if you love him 2 with all your mind and being. 3
for they did not meet you with food and water on the way as you came from Egypt, and furthermore, they hired 1 Balaam son of Beor of Pethor in Aram Naharaim to curse you.
“Remember what Moses the Lord’s servant commanded you. 1 The Lord your God is giving you a place to settle and is handing this land over to you. 2
But carefully obey the commands and instructions Moses the Lord’s servant gave you. Love 1 the Lord your God, follow all his instructions, 2 obey 3 his commands, be loyal to him, 4 and serve him with all your heart and being!” 5
If you violate the covenantal laws of the Lord your God which he commanded you to keep, 1 and follow, worship, and bow down to other gods, 2 the Lord will be very angry with you and you will disappear 3 quickly from the good land which he gave to you.”
