Do not be rash with your mouth or hasty in your heart to bring up a matter before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth! Therefore, let your words be few.

The snorting of the enemy’s horses is already being heard in the city of Dan. The sound of the neighing of their stallions 1 causes the whole land to tremble with fear. They are coming to destroy the land and everything in it! They are coming to destroy 2 the cities and everyone who lives in them!”
I hear my dear people 1 crying out 2 throughout the length and breadth of the land. 3 They are crying, ‘Is the Lord no longer in Zion? Is her divine King 4 no longer there?’” The Lord answers, 5 “Why then do they provoke me to anger with their images, with their worthless foreign idols?” 6
You will probably ask yourself, 1 ‘Why have these things happened to me? Why have I been treated like a disgraced adulteress whose skirt has been torn off and her limbs exposed?’ 2 It is because you have sinned so much. 3
You must no longer say that the Lord’s message is burdensome. 1 For what is ‘burdensome’ 2 really pertains to what a person himself says. 3 You are misrepresenting 4 the words of our God, the living God, the Lord who rules over all. 5
The sounds of battle 1 will resound to the ends of the earth. For the Lord will bring charges against the nations. 2 He will pass judgment on all humankind and will hand the wicked over to be killed in war.’ 3 The Lord so affirms it! 4
For they have not paid attention to what I said to them through my servants the prophets whom I sent to them over and over again,’ 1 says the Lord. 2 ‘And you exiles 3 have not paid any attention to them either,’ says the Lord. 4
The prophet Jeremiah answered them, “Agreed! 1 I will indeed pray to the Lord your God as you have asked. I will tell you everything the Lord replies in response to you. 2 I will not keep anything back from you.”
Do not lose your courage or become afraid because of the reports that are heard in the land. For a report will come in one year. Another report will follow it in the next. There will be violence in the land with ruler fighting against ruler.”
“‘As for the prophet, if he is made a fool by being deceived into speaking a prophetic word – I, the Lord, have made a fool of 1 that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and destroy him from among my people Israel.
saying, “Belteshazzar, chief of the magicians, in whom I know there to be a spirit of the holy gods and whom no mystery baffles, consider 1 my dream that I saw and set forth its interpretation!
