After 1 a little while, those standing there came up to Peter and said, “You really are one of them too – even your accent 2 gives you away!”
Now when the centurion 1 and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and what took place, they were extremely terrified and said, “Truly this one was God’s Son!”
They said to the woman, “No longer do we believe because of your words, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this one 1 really is the Savior of the world.” 2
because I have given them the words you have given me. They 1 accepted 2 them 3 and really 4 understand 5 that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me.
When 1 Peter came to himself, he said, “Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued 2 me from the hand 3 of Herod 4 and from everything the Jewish people 5 were expecting to happen.”
And so 1 we too constantly thank God that when you received God’s message that you heard from us, 2 you accepted it not as a human message, 3 but as it truly is, God’s message, which is at work among you who believe.
