For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is God’s power for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 1
For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more, since we have been reconciled, will we be saved by his life?
1 Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that had been kept secret for long ages,
but now made visible through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus. He 1 has broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel!
Remember your leaders, who spoke God’s message to you; reflect on the outcome of their lives and imitate their faith.
They 1 sang the song of Moses the servant 2 of God and the song of the Lamb: 3 “Great and astounding are your deeds, Lord God, the All-Powerful! 4 Just 5 and true are your ways, King over the nations! 6
All the raised offerings of the holy things that the Israelites offer to the Lord, I have given to you, and to your sons and daughters with you, as a perpetual ordinance. It is a covenant of salt 1 forever before the Lord for you and for your descendants with you.”
Now be willing to bless your servant’s dynasty 1 so that it may stand permanently before you, for you, O sovereign Lord, have spoken. By your blessing may your servant’s dynasty be blessed on into the future!” 2
With antiphonal response they sang, 1 praising and glorifying the Lord: “For he is good; his loyal love toward Israel is forever.” All the people gave a loud 2 shout as they praised the Lord when the temple of the Lord was established.
For this is what the high and exalted one says, the one who rules 1 forever, whose name is holy: “I dwell in an exalted and holy place, but also with the discouraged and humiliated, 2 in order to cheer up the humiliated and to encourage the discouraged. 3
The Lord said to his people: 1 “You are standing at the crossroads. So consider your path. 2 Ask where the old, reliable paths 3 are. Ask where the path is that leads to blessing 4 and follow it. If you do, you will find rest for your souls.” But they said, “We will not follow it!”
In the days of those kings the God of heaven will raise up an everlasting kingdom that will not be destroyed and a kingdom that will not be left to another people. It will break in pieces and bring about the demise of all these kingdoms. But it will stand forever.
“While I was watching, thrones were set up, and the Ancient of Days 1 took his seat. His attire was white like snow; the hair of his head was like lamb’s 2 wool. His throne was ablaze with fire and its wheels were all aflame. 3
“Seventy weeks 1 have been determined concerning your people and your holy city to put an end to 2 rebellion, to bring sin 3 to completion, 4 to atone for iniquity, to bring in perpetual 5 righteousness, to seal up 6 the prophetic vision, 7 and to anoint a most holy place. 8
Therefore, as surely as I live,” says the Lord who commands armies, the God of Israel, “be certain that Moab will become like Sodom and the Ammonites like Gomorrah. They will be overrun by weeds, 1 filled with salt pits, 2 and permanently desolate. Those of my people who are left 3 will plunder their belongings; 4 those who are left in Judah 5 will take possession of their land.”
If 1 anyone sees his fellow Christian 2 committing a sin not resulting in death, 3 he should ask, and God 4 will grant 5 life to the person who commits a sin not resulting in death. 6 There is a sin resulting in death. 7 I do not say that he should ask about that.
The beast you saw was, and is not, but is about to come up from the abyss 1 and then go to destruction. The 2 inhabitants of the earth – all those whose names have not been written in the book of life since the foundation of the world – will be astounded when they see that 3 the beast was, and is not, but is to come.
Then I heard the man clothed in linen who was over the waters of the river as he raised both his right and left hands to the sky 1 and made an oath by the one who lives forever: “It is for a time, times, and half a time. Then, when the power of the one who shatters 2 the holy people has been exhausted, all these things will be finished.”
