They will cover 1 the surface 2 of the earth, so that you 3 will be unable to see the ground. They will eat the remainder of what escaped 4 – what is left over 5 for you – from the hail, and they will eat every tree that grows for you from the field.
God brought them out of Egypt. They have, as it were, the strength of a young bull; they will devour hostile people 1 and will break their bones and will pierce them through with arrows.
Then you will know that I, the Lord, have heard all the insults you spoke against the mountains of Israel, saying, “They are desolate, they have been given to us for food.”
I will destroy her vines and fig trees, about which she said, “These are my wages for prostitution 1 that my lovers gave to me!” I will turn her cultivated vines and fig trees 2 into an uncultivated thicket, so that wild animals 3 will devour them.

and say to the scrub land of the Negev, ‘Hear the word of the Lord: This is what the sovereign Lord says: Look here, 1 I am about to start a fire in you, 2 and it will devour every green tree and every dry tree in you. The flaming fire will not be extinguished, and the whole surface of the ground from the Negev to the north will be scorched by it.
So fire went out from the presence of the Lord 1 and consumed them so that they died before the Lord.
Then a fire 1 went out from the Lord and devoured the 250 men who offered incense.
The Lord says this about Jezebel, ‘Dogs will devour Jezebel by the outer wall 1 of Jezreel.’
Because of that, 1 the Lord, the God who rules over all, 2 said to me, 3 “Because these people have spoken 4 like this, 5 I will make the words that I put in your mouth like fire. And I will make this people like wood which the fiery judgments you speak will burn up.” 6
In the shadows of the walls of Heshbon those trying to escape will stand helpless. For a fire will burst forth from Heshbon. Flames will shoot out from the former territory of Sihon. They will burn the foreheads of the people of Moab, the skulls of those war-loving people. 1
The descendants of Jacob will be a fire, and the descendants of Joseph a flame. The descendants of Esau will be like stubble. They will burn them up and devour them. There will not be a single survivor 1 of the descendants of Esau!” Indeed, the Lord has spoken it.
Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s angry judgment. The whole earth 1 will be consumed by his fiery wrath. 2 Indeed, 3 he will bring terrifying destruction 4 on all who live on the earth.” 5
