or when he touches human uncleanness with regard to anything by which he can become unclean, 1 even if he did not realize it, but he himself has later come to know it and is guilty;
The king ruined the high places east of Jerusalem, south of the Mount of Destruction, 1 that King Solomon of Israel had built for the detestable Sidonian goddess Astarte, the detestable Moabite god Chemosh, and the horrible Ammonite god Milcom.
They will not pour out drink offerings of wine to the Lord; they will not please him with their sacrifices. Their sacrifices will be like bread eaten while in mourning; all those who eat them will make themselves ritually unclean. For their bread will be only to satisfy their appetite; it will not come into the temple of the Lord.
“‘By these 1 you defile yourselves; anyone who touches their carcass will be unclean until the evening,
He must not profane his children among his people, 1 for I am the Lord who sanctifies him.’”
And whatever the unclean person touches will be unclean, and the person who touches it will be unclean until evening.’”

All the leaders of the priests and people became more unfaithful and committed the same horrible sins practiced by the nations. 1 They defiled the Lord’s temple which he had consecrated in Jerusalem.
Before I restore them 1 I will punish them in full 2 for their sins and the wrongs they have done. For they have polluted my land with the lifeless statues of their disgusting idols. They have filled the land I have claimed as my own 3 with their detestable idols.” 4
If a daughter of a priest profanes herself by engaging in prostitution, she is profaning her father. She must be burned to death. 1
He said to them: “Listen to me, you Levites! Now consecrate yourselves, so you can consecrate the temple of the Lord God of your ancestors! 1 Remove from the sanctuary what is ceremonially unclean!
I will bring the most wicked of the nations and they will take possession of their houses. I will put an end to the arrogance of the strong, and their sanctuaries 1 will be desecrated.
If someone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, which is what you are.
As for foreigners who become followers of 1 the Lord and serve him, who love the name of the Lord and want to be his servants – all who observe the Sabbath and do not defile it, and who are faithful to 2 my covenant –
For if after they have escaped the filthy things 1 of the world through the rich knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, 2 they 3 again get entangled in them and succumb to them, 4 their last state has become worse for them than their first.
