They were all amazed so that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He even commands the unclean spirits and they obey him.”
and likewise the men also abandoned natural relations with women 1 and were inflamed in their passions 2 for one another. Men 3 committed shameless acts with men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
realizing that law 1 is not intended for a righteous person, but for lawless and rebellious people, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers,
to execute judgment on 1 all, and to convict every person 2 of all their thoroughly ungodly deeds 3 that they have committed, 4 and of all the harsh words that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” 5
Now 1 the woman was dressed in purple and scarlet clothing, 2 and adorned with gold, 3 precious stones, and pearls. She held 4 in her hand a golden cup filled with detestable things and unclean things from her sexual immorality. 5
But to the cowards, unbelievers, detestable persons, murderers, the sexually immoral, and those who practice magic spells, 1 idol worshipers, 2 and all those who lie, their place 3 will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. 4 That 5 is the second death.”
“When a person commits a trespass 1 and sins by straying unintentionally 2 from the regulations about the Lord’s holy things, 3 then he must bring his penalty for guilt 4 to the Lord, a flawless ram from the flock, convertible into silver shekels according to the standard of the sanctuary shekel, 5 for a guilt offering. 6
If some of the meat of his peace offering sacrifice is ever eaten on the third day it will not be accepted; it will not be accounted to the one who presented it, since it is spoiled, 1 and the person who eats from it will bear his punishment for iniquity. 2
When a person touches anything unclean (whether human uncleanness, or an unclean animal, or an unclean detestable creature) 1 and eats some of the meat of the peace offering sacrifice which belongs to the Lord, that person will be cut off from his people.’” 2
Also, anything they fall on 1 when they die will become unclean – any wood vessel or garment or article of leather or sackcloth. Any such vessel with which work is done must be immersed in water 2 and will be unclean until the evening. Then it will become clean.
The priest must then examine it after the infection has been washed out, and if 1 the infection has not changed its appearance 2 even though the infection has not spread, it is unclean. You must burn it up in the fire. It is a fungus, whether on the back side or front side of the article. 3
The Lord said to Moses, “If her father had only spit 1 in her face, would she not have been disgraced for seven days? Shut her out from the camp seven days, and afterward she can be brought back in again.”
I will do so because these people 1 have rejected me and have defiled 2 this place. They have offered sacrifices in it to other gods which neither they nor their ancestors 3 nor the kings of Judah knew anything about. They have filled it with the blood of innocent children. 4
But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness; they did not follow my statutes and they rejected my regulations (the one who obeys them will live by them), and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I decided to pour out 1 my rage on them in the wilderness and destroy them. 2
Her priests abuse my law and have desecrated my holy things. They do not distinguish between the holy and the profane, 1 or recognize any distinction between the unclean and the clean. They ignore 2 my Sabbaths and I am profaned in their midst.
I will magnify 1 my great name that has been profaned among the nations, that you have profaned among them. The nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the sovereign Lord, when I magnify myself among you in their sight.
When you bring foreigners, those uncircumcised in heart and in flesh, into my sanctuary, you desecrate 1 it – even my house – when you offer my food, the fat and the blood. You 2 have broken my covenant by all your abominable practices.
