All the people, 1 rulers, 2 leaders, and judges were standing on either side of the ark, in front of the Levitical priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord. Both resident foreigners and native Israelites were there. 3 Half the people stood in front of Mount Gerizim and the other half in front of Mount Ebal, as Moses the Lord’s servant had previously instructed to them to do for the formal blessing ceremony. 4
Necho 1 sent messengers to him, saying, “Why are you opposing me, O king of Judah? 2 I am not attacking you today, but the kingdom with which I am at war. 3 God told me to hurry. Stop opposing God, who is with me, or else he will destroy you.” 4
“The rest, on both sides of the holy allotment and the property of the city, will belong to the prince. Extending from the eight and a quarter miles 1 of the holy allotment to the east border, and westward from the eight and a quarter miles 2 to the west border, alongside the portions, it will belong to the prince. The holy allotment and the sanctuary of the temple will be in the middle of it.
After some years have passed, they 1 will form an alliance. Then the daughter 2 of the king of the south will come to the king of the north to make an agreement, but she will not retain her power, 3 nor will he continue 4 in his strength. 5 She, together with the one who brought her, her child, 6 and her benefactor will all be delivered over at that time. 7
