For this reason, take up the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand your ground 1 on the evil day, and having done everything, to stand.
Consequently the one who rejects this is not rejecting human authority 1 but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
Therefore we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
Therefore it remains for some to enter it, yet those to whom it was previously proclaimed did not enter because of disobedience.
But as it is, 1 they aspire to a better land, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
So since we are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us give thanks, and through this let us offer worship pleasing to God in devotion and awe.
therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the sovereign Lord: This is what the sovereign Lord says to the mountains and hills, the ravines and valleys, and to the desolate ruins and the abandoned cities that have become prey and an object of derision to the rest of the nations round about –
“Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: It is not for your sake that I am about to act, O house of Israel, but for the sake of my holy reputation 1 which you profaned among the nations where you went.
For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth and the sea and all that is in them, and he rested on the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and set it apart as holy.
Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust me enough 1 to show me as holy 2 before 3 the Israelites, therefore you will not bring this community into the land I have given them.” 4
Recall that you were slaves in the land of Egypt and that the Lord your God brought you out of there by strength and power. 1 That is why the Lord your God has commanded you to observe 2 the Sabbath day.
The prophet 1 then said to him, “This is what the Lord says, ‘Because you released a man I had determined should die, you will pay with your life and your people will suffer instead of his people.’” 2
So this is what the Lord says about the king of Assyria: “He will not enter this city, nor will he shoot an arrow here. 1 He will not attack it with his shield-carrying warriors, 2 nor will he build siege works against it.
Therefore you delivered them into the hand of their adversaries, who oppressed them. But in the time of their distress they called to you, and you heard from heaven. In your abundant compassion you provided them with deliverers to rescue them from 1 their adversaries.
