Receive one another, then, just as Christ also received you, to God’s glory.
So I boast 1 in Christ Jesus about the things that pertain to God.
So let the one who thinks he is standing be careful that he does not fall.
Therefore, since we have such a hope, we behave with great boldness, 1
So, although I have quite a lot of confidence in Christ and could command you to do what is proper,
So get rid of 1 all evil and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander.
All those 1 I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent!
Therefore, tell the Israelites, ‘I am the Lord. I will bring you out 1 from your enslavement to 2 the Egyptians, I will rescue you from the hard labor they impose, 3 and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.
So look, the sovereign master 1 is bringing up against them the turbulent and mighty waters of the Euphrates River 2 – the king of Assyria and all his majestic power. It will reach flood stage and overflow its banks. 3
So 1 here is what the sovereign master, the Lord who commands armies, says: “My people who live in Zion, do not be afraid of Assyria, even though they beat you with a club and lift their cudgel against you as Egypt did. 2
When its branches get brittle, 1 they break; women come and use them for kindling. 2 For these people lack understanding, 3 therefore the one who made them has no compassion on them; the one who formed them has no mercy on them.
Therefore, this is what the sovereign master, the Lord, says: “Look, I am laying 1 a stone in Zion, an approved 2 stone, set in place as a precious cornerstone for the foundation. 3 The one who maintains his faith will not panic. 4
Because of that, 1 the Lord, the God who rules over all, 2 said to me, 3 “Because these people have spoken 4 like this, 5 I will make the words that I put in your mouth like fire. And I will make this people like wood which the fiery judgments you speak will burn up.” 6
I did not send those prophets, though they claim to be prophesying in my name. They may be saying, ‘No war or famine will happen in this land.’ But I, the Lord, say this about 1 them: ‘War and starvation will kill those prophets.’ 2
So then I, the Lord who rules over all, 1 have something to say concerning the prophets of Jerusalem: 2 ‘I will make these prophets eat the bitter food of suffering and drink the poison water of judgment. 3 For the prophets of Jerusalem are the reason 4 that ungodliness 5 has spread throughout the land.’”
Because of Israel’s sins 1 this is what the Lord, the God who commands armies, the sovereign One, 2 says: “In all the squares there will be wailing, in all the streets they will mourn the dead. 3 They will tell the field workers 4 to lament and the professional mourners 5 to wail.
