When the local people 1 saw the creature hanging from Paul’s 2 hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer! Although he has escaped from the sea, Justice herself 3 has not allowed him to live!” 4
I will make the children who follow one another in the line of my servant David very numerous. I will also make the Levites who minister before me very numerous. I will make them all as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sands which are on the seashore.’” 1
He denied it again with an oath, “I do not know the man!”
God created the great sea creatures 1 and every living and moving thing with which the water swarmed, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. God saw that it was good.

(But there is one who made the constellations Pleiades and Orion; he can turn the darkness into morning and daylight 1 into night. He summons the water of the seas and pours it out on the earth’s surface. The Lord is his name!

and gathered from foreign lands, 1 from east and west, from north and south.
who says to the deep sea, ‘Be dry! I will dry up your sea currents,’
Your wealth, products, and merchandise, your sailors and captains, your ship’s carpenters, 1 your merchants, and all your fighting men within you, along with all your crew who are in you, will fall into the heart of the seas on the day of your downfall.
Then God said, “Let us make 1 humankind 2 in our image, after our likeness, 3 so they may rule 4 over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the cattle, and over all the earth, 5 and over all the creatures that move 6 on the earth.”
