After this, Joseph of Arimathea, a disciple of Jesus (but secretly, because he feared the Jewish leaders 1 ), 2 asked Pilate if he could remove the body of Jesus. Pilate 3 gave him permission, so he went and took the body away. 4
Then the heads of the family groups 1 of the Gileadites, the descendant of Machir, the descendant of Manasseh, who were from the Josephite families, approached and spoke before Moses 2 and the leaders who were the heads of the Israelite families. 3

When he had contemplated this, an 1 angel of the Lord 2 appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because the child conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
After they had gone, an 1 angel of the Lord 2 appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod 3 is going to look for the child to kill him.”
When they came to the threshing floor of Atad 1 on the other side of the Jordan, they mourned there with very great and bitter sorrow. 2 There Joseph observed a seven day period of mourning for his father.
tell them, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: Look, I am about to take the branch of Joseph which is in the hand of Ephraim and the tribes of Israel associated with him, and I will place them on the stick of Judah, 1 and make them into one stick – they will be one in my hand.’ 2
