Then Paul took the men the next day, 1 and after he had purified himself 2 along with them, he went to the temple and gave notice 3 of the completion of the days of purification, 4 when 5 the sacrifice would be offered for each 6 of them.
And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised, 1 so that he would become 2 the father of all those who believe but have never been circumcised, 3 that they too could have righteousness credited to them.
But the gracious gift is not like the transgression. 1 For if the many died through the transgression of the one man, 2 how much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man Jesus Christ multiply to the many!
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Absolutely not! Certainly, I 1 would not have known sin except through the law. For indeed I would not have known what it means to desire something belonging to someone else 2 if the law had not said, “Do not covet.” 3
No trial has overtaken you that is not faced by others. 1 And God is faithful: He 2 will not let you be tried beyond what you are able to bear, 3 but with the trial will also provide a way out so that you may be able to endure it.
For I am afraid that somehow when I come I will not find you what I wish, and you will find me 1 not what you wish. I am afraid that 2 somehow there may be quarreling, jealousy, intense anger, selfish ambition, 3 slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorder.
and when James, Cephas, 1 and John, who had a reputation as 2 pillars, 3 recognized 4 the grace that had been given to me, they gave to Barnabas and me 5 the right hand of fellowship, agreeing 6 that we would go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised. 7
Listen! 1 I am going to make those people from the synagogue 2 of Satan – who say they are Jews yet 3 are not, but are lying – Look, I will make 4 them come and bow down 5 at your feet and acknowledge 6 that I have loved you.
The rest of humanity, who had not been killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so that they did not stop worshiping demons and idols made 1 of gold, silver, 2 bronze, stone, and wood – idols that cannot see or hear or walk about.
The 1 nations 2 were enraged, but 3 your wrath has come, and the time has come for the dead to be judged, and the time has come to give to your servants, 4 the prophets, their reward, as well as to the saints and to those who revere 5 your name, both small and great, and the time has come 6 to destroy those who destroy 7 the earth.”
and they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No 1 one was able to learn the song except the one hundred and forty-four thousand who had been redeemed from the earth.
So 1 I threw myself down 2 at his feet to worship him, but 3 he said, “Do not do this! 4 I am only 5 a fellow servant 6 with you and your brothers 7 who hold to the testimony about 8 Jesus. Worship God, for the testimony about Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
The angel 1 then 2 threw him into the abyss and locked 3 and sealed it so that he could not deceive the nations until the one thousand years were finished. (After these things he must be released for a brief period of time.)
Men were assigned to take the prisoners and find clothes among the plunder for those who were naked. 1 So they clothed them, supplied them with sandals, gave them food and drink, and provided them with oil to rub on their skin. 2 They put the ones who couldn’t walk on donkeys. 3 They brought them back to their brothers at Jericho, 4 the city of the date palm trees, and then returned to Samaria.
Why does no one challenge me when I come? Why does no one respond when I call? 1 Is my hand too weak 2 to deliver 3 you? Do I lack the power to rescue you? Look, with a mere shout 4 I can dry up the sea; I can turn streams into a desert, so the fish rot away and die from lack of water. 5
Then he said to me, “The north chambers and the south chambers which face the courtyard are holy chambers where the priests 1 who approach the Lord will eat the most holy offerings. There they will place the most holy offerings – the grain offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering, because the place is holy.
