Isaiah 49:14

Context
The Lord Remembers Zion

49:14 “Zion said, ‘The Lord has abandoned me,

the sovereign master 1  has forgotten me.’

Isaiah 51:13

Context

51:13 Why do you forget 2  the Lord, who made you,

who stretched out the sky 3

and founded the earth?

Why do you constantly tremble all day long 4

at the anger of the oppressor,

when he makes plans to destroy?

Where is the anger of the oppressor? 5

Isaiah 65:11

Context

65:11 But as for you who abandon the Lord

and forget about worshiping at 6  my holy mountain,

who prepare a feast for the god called ‘Fortune,’ 7

and fill up wine jugs for the god called ‘Destiny’ 8

1 tn The Hebrew term translated “sovereign master” here is אֲדֹנָי (’adonay).

2 tn Heb “and that you forget.”

3 tn Or “the heavens” (also in v. 16). The Hebrew term שָׁמַיִם (shamayim) may be translated “heavens” or “sky” depending on the context.

4 tn Heb “and that you tremble constantly all the day.”

5 tn The question anticipates the answer, “Ready to disappear!” See v. 14.

6 tn The Hebrew text has simply, “forget.” The words “about worshiping at” are supplied in the translation for clarification.

7 tn The Hebrew has לַגַּד (laggad, “for Gad”), the name of a pagan deity. See HALOT 176 s.v. II גַּד 2.

8 tn The Hebrew has לַמְנִי (lamni, “for Meni”), the name of a pagan deity. See HALOT 602 s.v. מְגִי.
