Isaiah 36:6

Context
36:6 Look, you must be trusting in Egypt, that splintered reed staff. If someone leans on it for support, it punctures his hand and wounds him. That is what Pharaoh king of Egypt does to all who trust in him!

Isaiah 42:3

Context

42:3 A crushed reed he will not break,

a dim wick he will not extinguish; 1 

he will faithfully make just decrees. 2 

1 sn The “crushed reed” and “dim wick” symbolize the weak and oppressed who are on the verge of extinction.

2 tn Heb “faithfully he will bring out justice” (cf. NASB, NRSV).
