Ezekiel 1:28

Context
1:28 like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds after the rain. 1  This was the appearance of the surrounding brilliant light; it looked like the glory of the Lord. When I saw 2  it, I threw myself face down, and I heard a voice speaking.

Ezekiel 3:12

Context
Ezekiel Before the Exiles

3:12 Then a wind lifted me up 3  and I heard a great rumbling sound behind me as the glory of the Lord rose from its place, 4

Ezekiel 3:23

Context
3:23 So I got up and went out to the valley, and the glory of the Lord was standing there, just like the glory I had seen by the Kebar River, 5  and I threw myself face down.

Ezekiel 8:4

Context
8:4 Then I perceived that the glory of the God of Israel was there, as in the vision I had seen earlier in the valley.

Ezekiel 9:3

Context

9:3 Then the glory of the God of Israel went up from the cherub where it had rested to the threshold of the temple. 6  He called to the man dressed in linen who had the writing kit at his side.

1 sn Reference to the glowing substance and the brilliant light and storm phenomena in vv. 27-28a echoes in reverse order the occurrence of these phenomena in v. 4.

2 tn The vision closes with the repetition of the verb “I saw” from the beginning of the vision in 1:4.

3 sn See note on “wind” in 2:2.

4 tc This translation accepts the emendation suggested in BHS of בְּרוּם (bÿrum) for בָּרוּךְ (barukh). The letters mem (מ) and kaph (כ) were easily confused in the old script while בָּרוּךְ (“blessed be”) both implies a quotation which is out of place here and also does not fit the later phrase, “from its place,” which requires a verb of motion.

5 tn Or “canal.”

6 tn Heb “house.”
